book art

my favorite part of reading a book is the end- the last line- after which i can take one last deep breath of it all and find a home for it on my book shelf.  whether admired from afar as a piece of art or referenced often, it is like being in the good company of all the amazing people, places, and things that i read about.  being able to give them a literal place in my life is why i don't rent library books or have a kindle for that matter.  convenient and economical alternatives i am sure, there is something tangible (albeit old school) about buying a book that is priceless.

individually each binding, cover, and page with its own font, color, and texture- even the smell- is enchanting.  as a collection it gives off a vibrant, alive and organized messy look of sorts that i find oh so charming.
